CHARACTER FACTS
» Name: Sierra Mikain
» Canon: Suikoden II
» Reference: http://suikosource.com/chars/list/?char_id=811
» Canon Point: end of Suikoden III (note: while she doesn't actually appear in this game, there's a couple of references made that imply she was around on the sidelines of those events, so I'm taking her from that point as it's the most "current" timeline-wise)
» Gender: Female
» Age: 866; physically stopped aging at approximately 16
CHARACTER INTERPRETATION
» Appearance: Physically, Sierra stopped aging when she acquired the Moon Rune at sixteen years old, so overall she appears to be a rather petite young woman. She has very pale skin, silver hair, red eyes, and small fangs; basically, she looks like a vampire. Which is appropriate, given that that's what she is. She also has the Moon Rune in her left hand- it basically looks like a tattoo of a stylized moon on the back of her hand. In Amat, she'd be physically aged up just a tad, but in keeping with the laws of narrative irony, she won't really be all that much bigger or fuller-figured, just enough to pass for a petite eighteen instead of teenager.
» Suitability: N/A; she's already more than old enough, though she'd probably have to be physically aged up a couple years.
» Orientation: Heterosexual. She has a canon former lover (male), shamelessly hits on one of the strategists when she's recruited (also male), and has a LOT of subtext with the protagonist of the Gaiden chapters (again, male). Pretty much the sole canon reference to her even interacting with anyone not a guy is what basically amounts to "girl talk" with some of the other women amongst the Stars... where the topic of said talking was apparently one of the aforementioned men anyway.
» Personality: Depending on who you are and what her mood is, Sierra can come across as anything from a bashful young lady to a cantankerous old woman. She's equally quick to flirt and play coy with a handsome young man she's taken a shine to, and to nag and harass someone who isn't doing things quite the way she wants them done. She can be very keen on getting her way, shamelessly using her youthful looks to play off someone's sympathies or otherwise manipulate a likely-looking fellow into doing her dirty work. Or any work she doesn't feel like doing at the moment. Teasing someone easily provoked seems to amuse her, and she can similarly be quickly seemingly petty and vindictive over any perceived slight.
However, much of that is just how Sierra acts; in those rare moments of insight to her inner thoughts and feelings, a rather different picture is painted. Sierra is centuries old, and lived through her share (and then some) of joy and heartbreak. As such she recognizes trivial matters for what they are, and simply doesn't let details like what others think of her get in her way of enjoying life. She's truly compassionate at heart, even going so far as personally hunting down and killing those "rogue" vampires--her former friends, comrades, and even lover--who had begun attacking and slaughtering humans to prolong their own lives after the Moon Rune was stolen. Sierra is also wiser and more observant than her manner may lead one to believe; she stays calm enough to pick on Nash when they're about to be attacked by zombies as she knew she could trust in his resourcefulness to aid her, and when surrounded by a mob of angry villagers merely complains at having had to wake up so early in the morning... before easily scattering the crowd with a blast of magic when they fail to leave her alone.
Overall, Sierra simply has lived a long life, can look forward to living an even longer one, and both knows what she wants out of it and isn't afraid to act on that. If other people take issue with the way she does things, it's their problem, not hers. She's no fool, and heaven help the poor sap who crosses or tries to get the better of her. Even so, she'd never do anything to truly harm anyone without extremely good reason, though harmless fun is entirely fair game...
As a note, given the poor quality of the official translation of Suikoden II, Sierra's manner of speech is based more on the Japanese version (especially the Gaiden): varying between "normal" feminine speech when she's trying to be charming, and a weird sort of quasi-archaic accent otherwise.

...work? If 'tis truly so simple as...
*At first, the video feed is dark, though the audio picks up the sound of someone fumbling with the device, as well as bits of a feminine-sounding voice*
...ye wretched contraption!
*Abruptly, the video finally flicks on, focusing in on the face of a pale, silver-haired young lady, her red eyes blinking, and frown quickly turning to a look of surprise and then a sweet smile as she realizes that the device is, indeed, doing something*
Oh, is it working?
*If it's the same voice as before, the tone at least sounds completely different....*
I was told I could use this to contact someone; I don't suppose there's anyone who could help me? I only just woke up here, wherever "here" is... A poor, unfortunate maiden like me... Is there someone who could help me?
*She smiles sweetly once again, surely there must be somegullible noble young man who could assist her?*

Fresh air tinged with the scent of the sea wafted in through the open window, taming what would otherwise be the heat of the day with its coolness. The distant sounds of bustling streets somewhere beyond and below was all that could be heard. The silken sheets on the plush bed were luxurious almost beyond words. But most importantly...
"....'tis far too early."
Sierra muttered to herself, and given no pressing reason to be up at such an absurd hour, rolled over and drifted off back to sleep.
Some time later, when the light that slanted through the window was tinged with the orange of twilight, she stirred again, far more refreshed than before. With a stretch and a slight yawn, she surveyed her surroundings with a keen eye. Nothing differed from her initial impression of it: a strange but finely-appointed room, with no one to be seen. But for the thin band of cloth about her neck, there was nothing remotely resembling restraints of any kind, not that she had any recollection of being in danger of being kidnapped or captured--if she'd even allow such a thing to happen even then! In fact, the last thing she recalled was some particularly sensuous dream she now only half-remembered and paid even less heed to. It had been pleasant, certainly, but hardly had anything to do with answering the question of where she was and how she'd come to be here. And more noteworthy even than that...
She glanced at the back of her left hand again, brow furrowing in an almost uncharacteristic puzzlement. The Moon Rune certainly appeared to be there, the same as it had been for all those centuries, but Sierra couldn't sense its presence at all. That, at least, was certainly a more noteworthy concern than simply having woken up in a strange but otherwise quite hospitable bed. Had it been sealed somehow? But then, why go to such an effort and leave her here unguarded? That it hadn't been stolen was a relief, but still raised more questions than answers. Questions that wouldn't be solved by just sitting here wondering about them, at that.
Rising from the bed at last, Sierra snatched up her clothes from where she'd spotted them earlier, considering the situation. If it was a kidnapping, it was a very peculiar one- even without the rune's power, short of some sort of magical barrier that had escaped her notice, there was absolutely nothing preventing her escape. And while she'd known of vampires who seemed to enjoy kidnapping and "ravishing" beautiful young maidens, one hardly left their clothes neatly folded at the foot of the bed in such circumstances. Besides, she was quite sure she'd remember if something like that had been the case.
"Or else 'twas so unremarkable as not to be worth remembering," she quipped to herself. But it was no matter, she thought to herself; she'd already given any hostile intentions ample opportunity to show themselves, and as none had, there was little point worrying about it when there were other questions to be answered. And answer them Sierra would, sooner or later. Such things nearly always became clear in a matter of time, if nothing else, and time was one thing she had plenty--
A low growling noise interrupted her thoughts, and Sierra blinked in surprise as she tried to determine the source. A moment later, she heard it a second time, and this time realized it was coming from her own stomach. It was another moment still before, drawing on memories that were now over eight hundred years old, she realized why: she was hungry. Not for blood or the power of the rune, but for simple, ordinary food, like any human.
Sierra stood still for a moment, thinking through the implications of this. It shouldn't be possible--the presence of the rune alone should make it impossible--and yet... Centuries old though the memories may be, she hadn't completely forgotten these sensations. She was no longer a vampire, but human once more. She considered it a moment longer, then simply shook her head. While it complicated matters a bit, it was simply yet another thing she would need to address, inconvenient though it may be in the mean time.
And speaking of said mean time... Sierra, now fully dressed, strode to the single door of the room. It was high time that someone started to give her some answers about all of this, and one way or another she intended to begin right now.
Perhaps first though, she thought, she'd have someone bring her some dinner. After all they'd already put her through, she certainly deserved that much, at least!
